How to Teach Your Rabbit to Stand Up

Jul 20, 2009 06:52 PM

There's nothing cuter than a rabbit standing on its hind legs with its nose twitching inquisitively in the air and its ears at attention. With this method, you'll be able to get your rabbit to stand up whenever you want.

Hold a treat above your rabbit’s head when she has all four feet on the ground.

Give a command such as “Fluffy, stand up.”

Give him/her a treat and verbal praise when he stands.

Repeat several times in a row, several times a day. This is a very easy trick to teach. If you want more of a challenge once your rabbit has this down, try getting him to hold the position by holding the treat just out of reach and delaying its delivery. Start with a very small delay and gradually increase the time. Once you have the desired results, use treats only occasionally.
